Reporting In

by Julia on July 21, 2008

I’m alive and well, returning after an unplanned hiatus. Thanks to everyone who visited in spite of my absence and inquired about my whereabouts. I’ll just start in media res with today. We drove to New Orleans and back today to pick up Matt and Ashley at the Cruise Terminal. They just got back from a little cruise to Cozumel, just barely escaping impending storm Dolly. (The same ship, Carnival Fantasy, leaves again tonight in spite of the weather.) They had a wonderful time getting away from it all, and we had an equally wonderful time babysitting Alexander during their absence. We didn’t do anything but have lunch in the Quarter, mainly because of the heat. I saw on our local news that the heat index was 107 degrees today in Lafayette, and we were feeling that and more in New Orleans. We did the Jazz Brunch at The Court of Two Sisters in honor of Ashley’s 22nd birthday, but that was a culinary mistake in spite of the fun atmosphere. Oh, well; live and learn. They had a wonderful time on their little trip, and that’s all that matters. My souvenir is a big bottle of Chanel No. 5 Eau de Toilette, and we also received Mexican coffee and vanilla. Now that I’ve broken through the writers’ block thing, I’ll be around to visit shortly. What is writers’ block, anyway?

Hi Julia,
It was miserably hot and humid here also. My outdoor thermometer read 102 degrees. Last week we were with out ac for six days and the temps in the house reached 95.
Oh, that is nice to be able to take a cruise. I am glad they missed the storms and had a wonderful time.
That coffee and vanilla sound wonderful.
School starts for Brian August 1st. I can’t believe how early the schools start here. And to make matters worse, that is on a Friday.
I am glad to see you back. I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday.
Hugs

Hi Julia,
I hope the storm stays clear of you and they weaken and fizzle out for the others. I have been tracking Dolly most of the day. These storms are so stressful. It stormed here today with t-storms. We all still have a full season of hurricanes. I pray that everyone is safe.
Hugs

Hey, you’re back! Good to read you :) Can’t remember if you’ve mentioned how Alexander’s last lot tests turned out? Hope all was well.
We broke up yesterday so I should be back blogging properly from now on, the last couple of weeks have been pretty manic, paperwork coming out of our ears. Our head decided she wanted analyses, percentages, data for absolutely everything possible as she thinks we’ll get inspected 2008/9, arrgghh what a nightmare!
Don’t worry about sending the book back, just glad you felt the same way about it as I did. I’ve bought all his others books now but haven’t been able to get into them. Perhaps now that school’s out I’ll be able to concentrate more fully!
Lots of love x

Hi Julia;

It was great to see your comment on my blog. You were gone for quite awhile that I was beginning to think you might have been ill. Thank goodness that wasn’t the case.

LOL! At your writer’s block comment. I wrote a poem a few years back about it. And when I couldn’t think of a thing to write, I used to post it on my site. I drove everybody crazy with that one.

Have a lovely middle of the week my friend. ~Hugs~

Hi Julia: I laughed so at your comments about Angelina. I used to love Rosie, but got tired of her mouth! Have a lovely day. HUGS
