Down and Out

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

I’ve been down with a virus for two days. That is, I’m pretty sure it’s a virus. I woke up yesterday with a temperature of 101 and obviously stayed home from school. I spent the day in bed, mostly watching the Top Chef marathon. Surprisingly, the fever broke in the middle of last night, but I decided to stay home again today because of wooziness. I didn’t go to the doctor yesterday because I was too sick, and I’m not going today because I am too well.

Roy has been busy organizing our occasional yardman Cat, who is moving old bricks from the backyard to build a sidewalk in the front. Dog Nicky is helping. Roy said Nicky picked up a brick and tried to throw it to help Cat. He also tried to pull vines off the back fence when Cat was doing that. Aren’t dogs the greatest? Our newer and much larger dog Shaggy hates Cat, however, and just barks and barks nonstop if allowed outside when he is here. They say dogs are good judges of character, but I don’t know which dog to trust.

See Flickr badge W3C valid for the tutorial I often use to style my Flickr images.

I usually avoid political commentary, and will continue to do so after this lapse, but I had to share ABC’s link to the Reverend Wright Transcript of September 16, 2001. While some say his remarks have been taken out of context, I find the original context indefensible.

Dr. Seuss

This was recently our quote for the day at school, and I couldn’t let it go. Right on, Dr. Seuss.

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.
