Night and Day
I dreamed I took some of my students on a field trip to an unknown body of water. One of them used my Aunt BeeBee’s crystal celery dish to surf into the water. Later, I sat on a raft while they swam around me. I noticed an alligator approaching but could do nothing but scream as I tried to pull as many as possible to safety on the raft. That’s when the alarm went off. I was actually happy to get out of bed and get ready for school.
The school day started off well when I discovered that one of my graduating seniors had created the most marvelous little storybook and play and left it for me to find. She was so proud of herself, and I of her. Why is it that they blossom so beautifully the second time around? All the literature says you can’t teach the population we teach without building relationships, and that takes time. We just don’t have enough of that under block scheduling.
Right after school I upgraded. First, I decided to read skim the directions for Upgrading WordPress, something I don’t usually do, and was glad I did. The whole process probably took ten minutes.
Roy and I shared a takeout crawfish dinner from our neighborhood eatery Charlie’s. It was slightly decadent but delicious. Among other things, it had a sort of crab cake made out of crawfish, and that was perfect. After that I settled into my chair to play on the computer and try out the new Dr. Who.

Hi Julia, my what a dream! I was not offended in the least with the url you sent. I appreciated it. How nice about your student. I gather it is hard to build a relationship to help you be closer and help more. Teacher’s that truly care will the system and the kids today make it much harder I’m sure. Love and ~hugs~

We are back safe and sound from our trip…it was wonderful….perfect weather. There is nothing like walking on the beach early in the morning. I practically had the beach to myself which was fine with me. Tonight we had our crawfish dinner, 6 pounds, potatoes, corn, and sausage. We will eat them every Friday until the season is over. Oh! I am reading “Loving Frank” (Frank Lloyd Wright) Jazzfest is this weekend and next weekend…as much as I love music the Jazzfest is just not my thing! I think it will be rained out Sunday *sigh* Hugs!

Hi Julia,
Your dream sounds to me like you want all of your students to learn and excel. You are trying to save them from failure. The celery dish represents to me something precious and maybe you feel that every student is precious and worthy of saving. The alligator represents to me that there are preditors that will devour our youth if we as a society don’t try to save them. Yet, there is not much we can do with cooperation from their parents, etc.
Or…Maybe I should just go to bed and shut up-*lol*
Have a beautiful Saturday.
Love and hugs
